What i did for the year was simply start making a FPS so that i could learn how unreal works and that soon i transfer the skills i have learned to be able to make other types including third person games or maybe a racing game. Three of the parts i spent the most time on was making the cave map with going through and getting everything like i had wanted second was getting the menu and the HUD working which had/has your ammo and energy which both update as they improve which make it one less thing i have to learn later. Lastly was the making my electric Tesla weapon which i have to make an animation of lighting for when it shoots which will also make it so that i can have three classes
What i would do again in this course:
differently work on making a few classes it helps with learning how to use the blue print system which is what is used for everything or you can use C+ but i stayed with blueprint to start because of its easy visual's but if you want to make stuff very specific.
What i wouldn't do again:
i wouldn't spend so much time on the tutorial map was good to test but didn't get to learn to much from that also at the beginning wish i had gotten the terrain tool to work then so that could have started with the map and end with finishing making a second character
ADVICE
1.(MENU) differently take the time to follow a tutorial for making the menu because it helps to learn some of the basics and you also have a menu to use for your maps and some settings.
2.(PLAYERS) take some time as well to make a few characters not even characters models but the guns and their ammo so that you get to know the different steps on making them with completely different items ex: glass cannon with a grenade launcher, medium health person with a Tesla gun and lastly slightly larger model guy with a heavy machine gun to have three different models to test with.\
3.(Overthinking/Going To Big) Don't try to do to much at once if you need something done don't try to do everything all you need is to get something small done every two weeks or something moderate size every month doesn't mean you can't put everything into one game but don't just work on say making a single map and nothing else at all for 6 months unless that all you want from the course which doesn't let you get that much.
