What i did today:
At the end of class i found out it was because as i placed it in a new map it created a duplicate which confused the HUD causing it not to work like it was suppose too.
What i learned:
that i have to watch to see if that has caused any of the other problems i have had before.
What i plan for tomorrow:
going to check to see if anything else has duplicated in case anything else becomes a problem

DAY 58 (MAY)
What i did today:
worked on and got the window and the character in the game but am having trouble everywhere on all the maps as after i did that i can't get the HUD working it just isn't displaying anymore and have no idea why going to continue to see if i can find something
What i learned:
i learned that i have to do some more research on the player controller and why it might not be working
What i plan for tomorrow:
as i stated in the learned part i have to do some research on how/why the character HUD isn't displaying

DAY 57 (MAY)
What i did today:
went in and finished the pit now i think there isn't anything else that needs to be added unless i choose to enclose the stairs but that if i do will be far down the road but other then that i decided to try to test how adding some windows in so i started on trying the but didn't get to finish it
What i learned:
i learned not to much again because just that i might want to give more spots for ranged weapons instead of just melee
What i plan for tomorrow:
finishing the window then working on getting the player model in the game for controlling to test if their is any gaps not as noticeable from floating camera form

DAY 56 (MAY)
What i did today:
i fixed and improved on the walls covering the lighting so that it didn't look horrible with how they reflected as well as spent more time trying to get the flashlight to work with no luck might put it onto the back burner per say and work on some other stuff for now because that isn't my top priority yet
What i learned:
i learned not to much as it was just trying to get the flashlight working and fixing up some walls
What i plan for tomorrow:
i plan on making the pit look better and the get it so i can walk around in player form

DAY 55 (MAY)
what i did today:
I worked on getting light in and around the cavern smaller and those places that needed some got some worked well and you can find your self in the cavern now as well i spent time trying to figure out how to had a flashlight to the player model but when ever i try adding to it stops being recognized in all the code so i might have to either add a flashlight to a new model or going in and changing all the code to let me have a flashlight.
What i learned:
i learned that the abbreviations aren't working correctly and that i am going to have to get it so that they are not changing which will make it so i can not go through everything again and change it
what i plan for tomorrow:
while for the rest of the year i will look at anything i can do to get flashlights working tomorrow i will have to neaten all the edges again to cover the light up nicely

Final Post
What i did for the year was simply start making a FPS so that i could learn how unreal works and that soon i transfer the skills i have learned to be able to make other types including third person games or maybe a racing game. Three of the parts i spent the most time on was making the cave map with going through and getting everything like i had wanted second was getting the menu and the HUD working which had/has your ammo and energy which both update as they improve which make it one less thing i have to learn later. Lastly was the making my electric Tesla weapon which i have to make an animation of lighting for when it shoots which will also make it so that i can have three classes
What i would do again in this course:
differently work on making a few classes it helps with learning how to use the blue print system which is what is used for everything or you can use C+ but i stayed with blueprint to start because of its easy visual's but if you want to make stuff very specific.
What i wouldn't do again:
i wouldn't spend so much time on the tutorial map was good to test but didn't get to learn to much from that also at the beginning wish i had gotten the terrain tool to work then so that could have started with the map and end with finishing making a second character
ADVICE
1.(MENU) differently take the time to follow a tutorial for making the menu because it helps to learn some of the basics and you also have a menu to use for your maps and some settings.
2.(PLAYERS) take some time as well to make a few characters not even characters models but the guns and their ammo so that you get to know the different steps on making them with completely different items ex: glass cannon with a grenade launcher, medium health person with a Tesla gun and lastly slightly larger model guy with a heavy machine gun to have three different models to test with.\
3.(Overthinking/Going To Big) Don't try to do to much at once if you need something done don't try to do everything all you need is to get something small done every two weeks or something moderate size every month doesn't mean you can't put everything into one game but don't just work on say making a single map and nothing else at all for 6 months unless that all you want from the course which doesn't let you get that much.
